Gentle Reminders - Short Fiction

Gentle Reminders
As 22-year-old Jo faces the daunting task of moving out of her college hostel, her chronic hoarding clashes with her pragmatic roommate Deena. Amidst the nostalgia-packed boxes, Jo's emotional attachment to a broken mirror frame unravels a journey into her past. Guided by memories of her grandmother's butterfly analogy, Jo grapples with the profound lesson that letting go of physical mementos is the key to embracing new beginnings. Gentle Reminders explores the evolving concept of home and the transformative power of shedding one's emotional cocoon.
Director's Statement
This short film was my first attempt at crafting a story from a simple thought. Amidst the pandemic, each of us had to face some harsh realities, with respect to space, to relationships. This humble little story is my way of concluding the memories that we got to keep and the ones that we had to let go of in order to make space for the new ones. I hope to understand and process life better by using film as a medium.
